No.  Not unless you enter it in the main part of the message when you’re contacting an Owner (or Finder).

If you’re a member of WhosMyOwner.com your name is in your account, but we don’t send it to anyone – we just use it to personalise your account pages, label sheets and any account-related emails we send you.

No.  Not unless you enter it in the main part of the message when you’re contacting an Owner (or Finder).

If you’re a member of WhosMyOwner.com your mobile number is in your account if you’ve added it, but we don’t send it to anyone – we just use it to forward Finder messages to you.  Text messages from us are sent from our own number, or from “WhosMyOwner”.

If you’re a Finder, the Owner you’re contacting can ONLY see the message body you enter, so if you want them to be able to contact you to arrange collection you must provide details in the message itself.

It’s a short message (under 140 characters) that someone finding your tagged item (the Finder) enters on our website.   We don’t reveal your contact details to the Finder.  Instead, we forward their message to you as a Finder Report.

You always receive Finder Reports by email at your registered email address.

If you enter a mobile number in your account, you’ll also receive them by SMS text message.

Text is by far the preferred way to receive a Finder Report, because it’s an instant notification that you might easily receive moments after losing something, and before you’ve realised it’s missing.

Your email report will contain a Thank Finder link, which you can follow to say Thanks to the finder if you got your item back.

It will also contain a More Detail Please link, in case the Finder Report didn’t have enough information for you to recover your item.  e.g. They said it’s at a police station, but not which one.  Or they said they found something of yours but not what it is.

We recommend you start with just one shared tag code for the whole family to begin with.  We will send Finder Reports to up to two email addresses and two mobile numbers.   If you decide later to get independent accounts with their own tag codes, we’ve kept our subscriptions price low to make that an option for most people.

Most members join WhosMyOwner by activating either a set of tags they bought from us or a reseller, or a tag they received as a promotion.

Promotional tags have a 30, 60 or 90-day free trial period.  Purchased tags usually come with 12 months membership.

In either case, simply activate your tags using the Activate Tags link on the website.  Complete your details, and your account is created immediately.  When you log in you can see in the Account Settings page a note of when your account expires.   Shortly before this date, you’ll receive an email reminder to log in and buy your subscription to keep your account active.

If you do allow your account to expire, it will become inactive (no Finder Reports) right away, then removed from the system within 30 days.  You can still log in and start a new subscription within this 30 day period.

You cannot receive Finder Reports without an active subscription.

Follow the Subscribe link  and check out on using PayPal or a credit card.

However, we’re confident that you’ll be delighted with WhosMyOwner; if so just leave your subscription alone.  After 30 days, PayPal will collect payment for one year’s membership.  They’ll do this annually until you cancel your subscription.

You can cancel your account at any time by cancelling your PayPal subscription, or contacting us using the contact form on the website.

If you do cancel, your membership will become inactive immediately and you’ll no longer receive Finder Reports for your tag.  Inactive accounts are regularly removed from our system, and their tags will eventually be made available to future members.

Don’t worry – most of our members users log in only occasionally to print labels or update contact details, so they often forget how to log in.

Fortunately, you can enter either your username or your email address (the one we send your emails to) in the username field.

Once you’ve logged in, you’ll see your login details on the Account Settings page.

If you have several email addresses, search your accounts for an old email from us, like your original Welcome email.  The To: address in the most recent of those emails is the one we have on file.

If you can’t find an old email from us, just go to our home page, and submit a Finder Report using the form.  Enter your own tag and a message, and press Send.   Whatever email account you receive the message on is the one we know about – use that address to log in.

Choose Log in, and you’ll see this link at the bottom of the login form:

Lost your password?

Choose the link, then enter your login, or your email address on the next page, and choose Get New Password.

You’ll receive a new generated password by email.

Use this to log in, then set a new, memorable password on the Account Settings page.
