It’s always inconvenient to lose stuff, but losing certain items is far more than just inconvenient.

If you lose your keys, wallet or luggage, and they have information attached that can identify you and where you live, there’s always a chance of an opportunist criminal getting hold of it, and targeting you for burglary or identity theft. Don’t assume all is well because nothing seems to have happened. Organised criminals will be patient, and wait a while before attacking your home.

So don’t make it easy. Use a non-identifying label like a WhosMyOwner code to mark your items. Finders can still reach you to notify you your stuff is safe, but they can’t identify you or your home, unless you choose to give them that information once you’re in touch. We recommend you never do that – use our system to arrange for them to drop of your item at a police station or meet in a busy place to return your item.

We all lose stuff. I usually get mine back!
